GVK takes over EMRI

EMRI rechristened as GVK EMRI

GVK group has taken over the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), with the induction of GVK Chairman GVK Reddy as the Chairman and four others into the EMRI Board.

According to a press release here today, besides Dr Reddy, GVK will be represented by Ms G Indira Krishna Reddy, Vice-Chairman G V Sanjay Reddy and Mr Som Bhupal (Mr Krishnaram Bhupal as alternate member) in the board.

Three new independent persons of eminence -- former Ambassador of India to the US Abid Hussain, former CBI Director and former NHRC Director General D R Kaarthikeyan and former Deputy MD and President of L&T-ECC A Ramakrishna had been included in the Board.

The existing four independent Directors -- ISB Chairman Rajat Gupta, Carnegie Mellon University's Prof Raj Reddy, Lok Satta President Jayaprakash Narayan and Indo-American Cancer Society Secretary Krishnam Raju -- would continue to remain in the board.

The Governing Body, which met here recently, approved the name of EMRI to be changed as 'GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute', reflecting the commitment of GVK to ensure that the life-saving emergency response service was strengthened further on all aspects, including speed, quality, scale, performance and governance.

Wishing the service to humanity to continue and be strengthened further, Chairman G V K Reddy said he was committed to serve the nation and work towards taking the organisation across the country.

Vice-Chairman Sanjay Reddy said the GVK EMRI would provide services, surpassing global standards with improved transparency following the modern principles of management and leadership.
