Punjab Gramin Bank to open 10 more branches

Punjab Gramin Bank will open ten more branches in Jalandhar, Mohali and Nawanshahar districts during this financial year.

This was stated here today by Punjab National Bank Chief General Manger (IT) R I S Sidhu after inaugurating the first branch of Punjab Gramin Bank here with CBS (Centralised Banking Solutions).

Mr Sidhu said the Punjab Gramin Bank, a subsidiary of the Punjab National Bank, had 155 braches in Punjab and all the branches would be converted to CBS system during this financial year.

He said 50 Gramin branches would be converted to CBS system by the end of September this year.

PNB, nder the financial inclusion scheme, has adopted 50,000 villages in the country to provide banking facility to the poor persons at their door steps in those villagers where no banks exist by opening the accounts with a credit facility of Rs 500.

PNB Chandigarh region General Manager N C Jain said the bank was recruiting 225 employees and officers by the end of September this year to provide better services to the customers.

Punjab Gramin Bank also organised a state level credit camp function at local Virsa Vihar where rs 65 crores were disbursed to over 3000 beneficiaries.
