eBay India launches Global EasyBuy

Encashing on its growing popularity, leading e-commerce portal eBay India today announced the launch of Global EasyBuy, an international online shopping destination, providing Indian shoppers access to an unprecedented 18 million products.

The Rs 9,000 crore e-commerce in India, growing at a pace of 35 per cent annually, is looking ahead for a dynamic future with the 400 million middle income people seeking new avenues for shopping experience, EBay India marketing Director Kashyap Vadapalli told newsmen here.



He said tough a majority of e-commerce in India was today related to travel and tourism, the merchandise purchase worked out to Rs 1,000 crore and was growing rapidly. Global EasyBuy was aimed at redefining the Indian retail landscape and would provide savvy Indian shoppers access to the world's hottest labels and coolest brands, he said, adding that the new platform would take variety and access to international products to new heights.

The main advantage for the buyer would be that he would be paying in Indian currency to get foreign brands, especially from the United States, which he had been yearning for long. A wide array of goods and commodities would be available for the browsing shopper.

Replying to a question, he said that the downturn had not affected the online e-commerce. There is a increased sales from the last quarter of 2008, he added.
