Tyre major JK Tyre commissioned its new truck and bus radial tyre plant in Mysore Friday, and said it had doubled its annual production capacity to 800,000 units on an outlay of Rs.315 crore.
"The company is fast expanding its capacity across its manufacturing facilities. We are planning to invest Rs.1,200 crore in the next three to four years to fulfil the growth demand," said JK chairman H.S. Singhania.
JK Tyre has four plants in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karanataka, apart from three around Mexico City.
It is now expanding its capacity in Mysore on an outlay of Rs.120 crore for off-the-road tyres that are used in activities such as mining and construction.
Maintaining that tyres manufactured in India were fast being radialised, company vice-chairman and managing director R.P. Singhania said JK Tyre produced 80 percent of India's total truck and bus radial tyre production.
