Panasonic India, commanding 36 market share in the sphere of Plasma TV market, eyes doubling its business during the current fiscal in the country.
After launching the world`s largest 103'' plasma TV, Panasonic India Managing Director Hidenori Aso told newspersons here today that the company was putting sincere efforts to bring new and unique products in market.
Keeping in mind the taste of the Indian consumers, the company had set up a special department in Japan to execute the plans based on the demands from the Indian market.
Mr Aso said Panasonic was contemplating to set up manufacturing units in India to expand its market in the country and opportunities were being explored in this regard.
Panasonic India Director (Sales) Rajikant Jha said the company did a business worth Rs 2,200 crore during 2007-08 and the figure touched Rs 4,500 crore this fiscal, currently.
The company commands 36 per cent market share of Plasma TV market in India, while in consumer durable market, such figure was assessed at 4.5 per cent.
Mr Jha said 2009 had been termed as expansion year, 2010 as investment year and 2011 as production year.
To a query, he said the company would set up its production unit in Bihar in case the state government extended logistics support, including that of land.
