The Haryana government has decided to construct all new health institutions in the state as per the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) and upgrade the existing ones as per the same by 2012.
Stating this here today, Haryana Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Health), Anuradha Gupta said administrative approval of Rs 197 crore under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and of Rs 78 crore under State Plan had already been issued for construction of buildings of health institutions.
She said the IPHS aimed at providing a yardstick to the minimum functional grade of a health institute.
Ms Gupta said ten hospitals in the state had been identified for total renovation under the 12th Finance Commission during 2009-2010.
Renovation would be done by the Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Department. Also, six district hospitals at Faridabad, Gurgaon, Bhiwani, Hisar, Rohtak and Sonepat were being upgraded as state of art multispeciality hospitals by National Building Construction Corporation at a cost of Rs 100 crore she said.
