The Royal Party will arrive at thehub:mk, a new mixed-use development in
the centre of Milton Keynes with a central Piazza. The Queen and The Duke of
Edinburgh will tour a 'Milton Keynes Life' exhibition and meet prospective
Olympians and Paralympians on the first floor of the Ramada Encore Hotel. The
Royal Party will then walk across the new Piazza area meeting local residents
and companies. The Queen will then unveil a plaque to formally mark the
opening of thehub:mk. After unveiling the plaque, The Queen and The Duke
of Edinburgh will be shown an interactive contemporary art work erected in
the Piazza. Entertainment will be provided by local musicians and dancers
to represent the diversity of cultures within Milton Keynes.
The Royal Party will then move to Stadium MK where The Queen and The Duke of
Edinburgh will meet the Chairman, Directors, Manager and MK Dons players. The
Queen and The Duke will then tour an exhibition of Milton Keynes voluntary
and community groups where they will meet with volunteers and workers. The
Royal Party will then move to the pitch where The Queen and The Duke will
view a display involving 1,000 children from local schools, celebrating '40
Years of Milton Keynes'. At the culmination of this event The Queen will
be invited to unveil a plaque, formally opening Stadium MK, and release a
single red balloon to recognise Milton Keynes 40th year.
The Royal Party will then move to the Nigel Mobbs St. John Ambulance Centre
where The Queen will unveil a plaque to mark the opening of the new building.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will then view demonstrations of the
work of St. John's Ambulance.
The Royal Party will then travel to Stowe School where they will attend a
lunch. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will then meet pupils before
moving to the South Portico to meet National Trust representatives. The
Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will then undertake separate programmes. The
Queen will unveil a plaque to mark the opening of Queen's House, a new
boarding house for girls before touring the grounds, including a stop at
the 'Temple of British Worthies' where The Queen will meet with National
Trust staff and volunteers. The Duke of Edinburgh will meet with pupils and
view a demonstration of interactive teaching technology. His Royal Highness
will then meet with Duke of Edinburgh Award recipients, inspect the school
Combined Cadet Force and view sports activity. The Queen and The Duke of
Edinburgh will then meet local schoolchildren and brownies on the steps of
the Temple of Concord & Victory before they plant two trees close to two
trees planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1845.
