Movial, the company that inspires rich, intuitive Internet experiences, announced that Far EasTone (FET), the leading GSM/WCDMA mobile phone operator in Taiwan, has selected its Communicator Mobile and PC client application suites for its converged VoIP (Voice over IP) offering over HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) on PC and mobile devices. FET launched its converged IMS offering in August this year and is able to reach millions of new broadband wireless subscribers and current DSL users with this offering.
"Mobile operators are starting the process of rolling out VoIP and other IP-based services to their customers, using both mobile phones and also laptop PCs. They will use a mix of wireless technologies, including HSPA, WiFi and ultimately LTE. In some cases they will use the cellular network to compete directly against DSL and cable broadband providers," said Dean Bubley, founder of Disruptive Analysis, a leading authority on fixed-mobile convergence and wireless VoIP. "According to new forecasts, by 2012, there will be more than 250m people using VoIPo3G, and Movial is helping operators to enter this converging marketplace and compete against both fixed-line providers and over-the-top Internet wireless VoIP services."
With Movial's Communicator Mobile and PC software, wireless service providers are able to compete directly with broadband and fixed-line operators, Internet and cable service providers and DSL providers to vie for new and existing subscribers for mobile and PC services.
Broadband, fixed and mobile operators around the world rely on Movial's Communicator PC and Mobile client software to offer the best voice quality and converged IP multimedia applications that provide a highly intuitive, consistent user experience across mobile and PC devices. Communicator enables end users to enjoy a simple, easy user experience without worrying about the underlying technology and alleviates the pain operators experience when utilizing silo applications and integrating services from multiple users.
"Movial continues to pioneer innovation and momentum in broadband wireless solutions for operators and we are delighted to help enable this world-first mobile VoIP initiative," said Jari Ala-Ruona, chief executive officer of Movial. "Consumers need a simple and enjoyable experience across multiple devices, so we specifically designed this program to leverage the power of Communicator to deliver HSPA across PCs and mobile, delivering the easiest, most intuitive user experience to the home. We look forward to continuing these efforts around the world with other innovative operators and look forward to announcing many more exciting launches soon."
Movial's CEO Jari Ala-Ruona will be available to demonstrate Communicator Mobile and PC at the Mobile World Congress in Macau on Nov. 13 and 14.
