Travel + Leisure Organizes a Panel Discussion “Travel Extravaganza”

Travel + Leisure, the cutting-edge travel lifestyle magazine in association with American Express Publication and The Oberoi Hotel today organized the first ever "Travel Meets Luxury"- a panel discussion on luxury in travel at The Oberoi, New Delhi. This panel discussion was organized to generate awareness on "The changing definitions of luxury and travel, with a special focus on South East Asia/India's growth and future as a high-end destination". Also the focus was on to bring forward the widened horizon for the most preferred luxury brands & Travel & Tourism sector to interact on the same platform by exploring the possibilities to take it to the next level. As according to the latest study/ research about 1.6 million households earnings over Rs 45 lacs (US$ 100,000) or more per year, spending about Rs 4 lacs (US$ 9,000) pr year on Luxury / very premium services which includes foreign travel. Today India has more consumers for luxury than the adult population of several countries with over one million consumers in the segment, a number that is expected to treble by 2010.
